Thanksgiving Recap

We had a wonderful time with Mikey's family over Thanksgiving.  Ella had so much fun spending time with her cousins.  She was in good spirits the whole time even though she had a pretty nasty cold.  I wish I would have taken more pictures but Ella takes up so much of my time. 

 

 

 

 

Ella and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Case of Diaper Rash

Poor Ella has been battling a serious case of diaper rash.  We've tried every cream imaginable - A&D, Butt Paste, Triple Paste and Desitin.  Nothing seem to be working.  My niece had a terrible diaper rash so my brother-in-law and sister-in-law suggested using an Aquaphor/Maalox mixture.  We tried that and it worked pretty well but she was still miserable.  I got lots of suggestions from pediatrician and moms at Ella's school and we've got a new diaper routine down until it clears up - wipe her tush, dab dry with tissue, apply cornstarch then Aquaphor/Maalox paste.  That paired with baking soda baths and letting her air it out at night seems to be working.  Thankfully Ella isn't screaming bloody murder anymore when I change her diaper.  Her favorite part of all of this is definitely "airing it out."

Ella has been so much fun lately and getting cutier and cutier.  Over the weekend we were just laying around (she was in her third outfit of the day) and she was rolling around on the floor by me and just started "talking" to me.  I had to capture it on video.

Milestone: First Food - Sweet Potatoes!

This weekend Ella tried "food" for the first time.  We started with sweet potatoes and it was a big success!  She ate almost the whole thing.  Moving forward, we will try a new food each week...starting first with veggies and then moving to fruits after her six month check up. 

Ella is Five Months Old

I'm a few days late on this...Ella is FIVE months old.  I can't believe how quickly the time is going by.  She's getting bigger and cuter everyday.  She's "talking" a ton and has started eating real foods.  So far sweet potatoes have been a big hit.  Here are a few cute pictures from her five month photo shoot.  These are my favorite so far.  She's all smiles!

We got Ella up a little earlier today so we could hit the polls before work and before the lines got crazy long. 

Ella's New Gear

During Hurricane Sandy we were stuck in the house for a couple days so we decided to put Ella's Jumperoo together.  She doesn't quite fit yet but she loves it.

Starting to "talk"

We got to spend extra time with Ella this week because we were both home on Monday and Tuesday due to Hurricane Sandy.  I treasured those two days and really got to see how Ella is changing.  I've been hearing her "talk" when we are in the car but this weekend/week was the first time I really got to see it.  Of course I had to document it.  I love her little noises.
